Oxshott is a village of some 2600 homes situated in Surrey about 17 miles south-west of London, largely surrounded by green belt woodland and farmland (location map). It lies within the local authority area of Elmbridge, to the south of Esher and east of Cobham. Oxshott is ideally-situated in beautiful countryside just 30 minutes by train from London and about 25 miles from both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Learn about the history of Oxshott from this fascinating book by Dr. B. S. Gidvani, one of the founding members of FEDORA.

The area around Oxshott is one of great natural beauty, with Oxshott Heath and woodland, nearby Ashtead Common and the tranquility of the Mole Valley. Within a short drive there are historic Claremont Gardens and Painshill Park, recreational attractions such as the RHS gardens at Wisley and the racecourse at Sandown Park, and the modern amusement parks of Chessington World of Adventures and Thorpe Park
