HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Green Belt Group
Following the meeting on 10th December we were delighted that a number of
residents expressed an interest in establishing a Green Belt Group. This new group has now had an initial meeting and have agreed that it will be focussing primarily on assisting FEDORA in:
– Keeping members and supporters informed of how plans develop and evolve
– Keeping an eye on developments in adjacent areas – for example, Wisley Airfield and Mole Valley
– Supporting local groups to minimise the impact of any proposed developments
– Working with Elmbridge and Surrey CC to ensure, as far as it is possible,
improvements in the infrastructure are integral to any major developments.
– Encouraging a clear focus of attention on any potential developments on the Grey Belt and adjacent to existing urban areas.
Planning – new Doctors’ surgery
Residents are invited to respond to the plans for the proposed new Doctors’ Surgery.
Responses are required by 7 th February 2025, so please do take the opportunity to
express your support or raise any concerns you may have. You will find it on the Elmbridge planning website under application number 2024/2906.
Magazine
I am delighted to announce that Ruth Jones has stepped forward to replace Nix
Birrell as the new editor of FEDORA’s magazine. It is planned that the next issue will be available from 11 th April 2025.
Vacancy
However, we are still looking for a someone to take on responsibility for the layout and liaison with our printers. They will work closely with Ruth Jones and Maureen Dufficy, who has responsibility for the advertising in the magazine.
As you all know the magazine is issued only twice a year, so this role does not
involve a large or sustained time commitment. If you would be interested, please do contact chair@fedora.org.uk
Reporting problems to Surrey County Council
As we mentioned in the Autumn edition of FEDORA’s magazine Surrey CC had adopted a new and easy way of reporting problems, available on line here. https://tellus.surreycc.gov.uk.
If you haven’t already used it, take a look and keep a note of this link. It can be used to report a range of problems for which Surrey has responsibility including damaged roads and pavements, flooding and dangerous trees. If you can safely take a photo before making a report that can speed up the identification and response.
Recently Surrey and a utility company responded impressively quickly to problems reported with sunken/damaged manhole covers on the A244. The resulting bad news of course has been two sets of light-controlled repairs in the High Street and near the Junction with Goldrings Road,
